What happens in a 25-minute online Chinese trial lesson?
A KABE trial is a 25-minute Cantonese or Mandarin lesson on Zoom, with conversation and activities adapted to your child. First submit a request; the team then replies by email within 1 business day to discuss pricing, teacher matching, and a suitable time.

Before the lesson: confirm the arrangements
The request form starts an enquiry and does not book a time or collect payment. Trial lessons are paid. The team will share the fee, a suitable tutor, and available times before you book. Confirm the teacher, timezone, and meeting time with the team before booking. Tell them your child’s age, language experience, interests, and goals.
Prepare your device and learning space
Use a laptop, desktop, or tablet with Zoom, a webcam, a microphone, and a stable internet connection. Choose a quiet shared room and check the sound before the lesson. A parent or guardian coordinates the meeting link and setup.
During the lesson: activities at the right level
An example lesson might begin with a greeting, move to a game or short story, and then practice a word or conversation. Younger children might use visual props; older beginners might discuss a hobby. These examples are not a fixed minute-by-minute lesson plan.
Look for fit, not an instant result
Notice whether the tutor gives your child time to respond, adjusts the difficulty, and uses topics that interest them. One trial cannot demonstrate long-term progress. It can help you discuss the teaching approach and whether your child feels comfortable.
After the lesson: ask practical questions
Ask about the recommended starting level, possible next goals, private or group availability, scheduling, lesson prices, and how to request progress feedback. Confirm cancellation and rescheduling terms before booking lessons.
